Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about therapy, my approach, and what to expect during our
sessions. If you don't see your question here, feel free to reach out directly.

  • Where are you located, and who do you work with?

I am based in California and licensed to provide therapy to individuals who are physically located within the state of California. I currently work exclusively with adults. My practice is not a fit for individuals diagnosed with personality disorders or eating disorders, or for those who are actively experiencing suicidal ideations. If you're looking for support in any of these areas, I encourage you to connect with a provider who specializes in those concerns to ensure you receive the most appropriate and effective care.

  • Do you offer Telehealth sessions?

I currently offer telehealth sessions only and do not provide in-person services. All therapy sessions are conducted securely through a HIPAA-compliant video platform, allowing you to attend from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Virtual therapy offers flexibility and convenience while maintaining the same quality of care as in-person sessions.

  • What can I expect in a session with you?

The first few sessions (typically 1–4) focus on getting to know you—your concerns, personal history, how your symptoms are impacting daily life, and what goals you’d like to work toward. We’ll also explore what your ideal day-to-day functioning might look like after therapy.Once the assessment phase is complete, future sessions will be tailored to your goals. Behind the scenes, I’ll be conceptualizing and pacing your progress intentionally. Your role is to show up on time, be open and authentic, and practice the skills we discuss between sessions. What you invest in therapy is what you’ll get out of it.

  • Is therapy confidential?

Yes, all sessions are completely confidential. I follow strict privacy and ethical guidelines to ensure your personal information and what we discuss in therapy remains protected. The only exceptions to confidentiality are situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or when required by law.

  • What do I need for my first session?

All you need is a quiet, confidential, comfortable space where you feel safe to talk. It allows for you to reflect on what you'd like to work on in therapy and any questions you have. Having a notebook and pen can also be helpful!  If any forms or paperwork are needed ahead of time, I’ll send those over before we meet.

  • How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes long. This time allows for sharing, processing, exploration, and the implementation of therapeutic strategies.

  • Do you offer longer or shorter sessions?

Yes, extended or shorter sessions may be available on a case-by-case basis. Let’s discuss your needs during our work together.

  • Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I do not accept insurance. My practice is private pay only, and payment is due at the time of service. I accept credit and debit cards. However, I can provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. To submit a superbill:• Contact your insurance provider and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.• After your session, I’ll provide you with a superbill upon request.• Submit the superbill directly to your insurance company (usually via their member portal or by mail).• If approved, you’ll receive reimbursement directly from your insurer. Please note: Reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies depending on your individual insurance plan.

  • Why don’t you accept insurance?

Great question! The current insurance structure often does not fairly compensate therapists for the depth of service, ongoing training, and clinical expertise required to provide high-quality care. By operating outside of insurance, I’m able to offer more personalized, flexible, and client-centered support.

  • Can I contact you between sessions?

Yes, you're welcome to reach out between sessions for scheduling or logistical questions. If you’d like to connect about something more clinical or time-sensitive, let’s talk during our session about the best way to handle that. While I’m not able to offer therapeutic support outside of appointments, I’ll make sure you have access to helpful resources for times when extra support is needed.

  • What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

If you need to reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled session to avoid the cancellation fee. You can reschedule through the same online booking system or reach out directly.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows are subject to a $250 fee.
